This program will identify best practices regarding oversight and appraisal to improve charter school trustee effectiveness. The session will focus on characteristics of effective boards, the role of the trustee, the role of the school leader/chief school administrator, shared roles (trustee/administrator), team governance (including goal-setting, evaluating the chief school administrator, trustee self-evaluation, barriers to effectiveness and effective recruitment) and oversight of management.
