Decision Making for 1:1 Computing
During the spring of 2012, the Northern Valley Regional High School district completed a unique side-by-side analysis of various models and devices during a one-to-one computing pilot program that took place in both district high schools. The district explored various models and hardware through the program including iPads, Transformer Prime Android tablets, laptops, Chromebooks, and a "bring your own device" model. The district also focused on the training needs for teachers and students and conducted comprehensive research to define the needs of students, staff, and parents, as all are key components for success in a full-scale implementation.

Creating A Community Cloud To Reduce Your Districts' Technology Costs

Cloud computing is driving a transformation in how IT applications and services are delivered and consumed.  A Community Cloud allows its members to access applications hosted in a shared infrastructure, sharing and reducing the cost of delivering those services, which can be accessed from devices ranging from the traditional desktops to the iPad.

In this session we will explore the concepts of Cloud computing, its value to institutions, considerations in building and managing a Cloud and how a statewide community cloud like the one being considered by NJSBA and NJEDGE could benefit its members from a cost savings, shared services and student achievement standpoint.
